Community Relations Committee

Jewish communities across North America are well known as champions of social activism, and the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta continues this tradition through the initiatives of the Community Relations Committee (CRC).

The CRC, chaired by Steve Labovitz, provides a common table around which the representative voice of the Atlanta Jewish community gathers to address the social action and public policy concerns of the Jewish community, both in Atlanta and around the world. Our committee members - which include policy makers, Jewish clergy and synagogue representatives, Israeli diplomatic representatives, national and local organization representatives, and activists from the Atlanta Jewish community -- combine their strengths to help make the world a better and safer place for all.

The mission of the CRC is to engage and involve the Atlanta community to:

  • Maintain strong American support for Israel.
  • Support social justice and equal opportunity for all people.
  • Influence public opinion and policy.
  • Educate and involve Jews in political activism and advocacy.
  • Build relationships within the Jewish community and the general community.

The CRC is comprised of several task forces that focus on areas of specific interest and offer many opportunities for involvement. Click on any of the below to find out more information:

The CRC also sponsors many community-wide advocacy events throughout the year. ShalomAtlanta.org will highlight these as they occur and give you an opportunity to get involved.
