The Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta is proud to have established the Atlanta Jewish Coalition for Literacy and served as the coordinating institution on behalf of the many dedicated volunteers over these past years. This important community relations initiative has touched hundreds of volunteers and greatly benefited students in the greater Atlanta school systems.
The Atlanta Jewish Coalition for Literacy program has moved to new phase in its development. We are very excited to report that as of June 1, 2007, the National Council for Jewish Women – Atlanta Section (NCJW) became the new sponsor of this program. It is fitting that NCJW takes on this role as its mission is to promote volunteerism for the betterment of the general community. It has a long and distinguished history of encouraging communal participation and involvement and has the expertise to engage volunteers and provide meaningful experiences for them. All these qualities will result in the strengthening of the Literacy Program.
