Next month during Passover, we will retell the story of the Exodus. We left Egypt as slaves, and traveled to the desert to become a nation. It remains unclear whether there was actually a plan that 100,000 Jews would find our way to Atlanta in the 21st century, but our ever-expanding community is now thriving with Jewish culture, education and religious diversity. We have come a long way.
Our journey is surely not over, and the success of tomorrow's Jewish community depends on what we do today. We must build our community as we reinforce the foundations; reach forward as we reach out to those who need a helping hand. We must bridge today and tomorrow with both vision and deeds.
Why is this year different from other years? At the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta, we have undertaken several initiatives designed with the future of our Jewish community in mind. We recently launched a study of several North Metro suburbs to determine what residents saw as critical Jewish needs. Hundreds have already responded and we eagerly await the results of the survey. In addition, the Federation is deeply committed to an ambitious long-range planning effort involving donors, local agencies, synagogues and organizations that will redefine our community's partnerships to ensure that there will be sufficient resources and services to address Jewish needs in Atlanta, in Israel and around the world.
With your continued support of the Campaign for Community Needs and the JFGA Endowment Fund, we can work together to create tomorrow's Atlanta Jewish community.
