Artist Visits The Breman to Discuss Exhibit

Photographer Bill Aron, whose works are on display as part of The Breman's exhibit Shalom Y'All, will visit the museum to discuss his book, Shalom Y'All: Images of Jewish Life in the American South. His 137 distinctive, black and white photographs, which form the core of the current exhibit, are paired with stories – heroic, funny, and sometimes tragic – told by Jews about the unique experience of being Jewish in the South. Together, the text and photographs tell a story of a culture that has managed, with a mixture of good humor, perseverance, and faith, to make a home.

Bill Aron's work is part of the permanent collections in a number of museums, including the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, the Art Institute of Chicago, the International Center of Photography, the National Museum of American Jewish History and more. He has had over twenty solo exhibitions, has been part of over twenty-five theme exhibitions, and his work has been featured in a host of magazines and newspapers.
